A step-by-step illustrated guide to help you understand the foundations, technique, rhythms, Orishas and cultural meaning behind Yoruba dances in Cuba.
“With a clear and pleasant prose to read, the author accurately guides the readers, emphasizing the ritual characteristics of the dances belonging to the Cuban Regla de Osha.”
Prof. Graciela Chao Carbonero
Associate Professor, Consulting Professor and Merit Professor of the University of the Arts (ISA)

I began my training in Cuba and graduated from the National School of Art (ENA) as a dancer and folklore teacher. I later became a member of the Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba, where I deepened my understanding of Afro-Cuban dance, music, culture and tradition.
My journey later took me to Europe through a scholarship in Switzerland and into the worlds of ballet and contemporary dance, performing internationally with different companies and working across different movement traditions.
Eventually, I returned to where everything began: my Afro-Cuban roots.
Today, my work is dedicated to preserving this tradition and helping the next generation understand not only how to perform the movement, but the culture, rhythm and meaning behind it.
Essence of Yoruba Dances in Cuba is part of that mission.
